C. Ronaldo : Mum Down in Hospital with Stroke




Cristiano Ronaldo has flown home to Madeira after his mother was rushed to hospital after suffering a suspected stroke in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

 Dolores Aveiro, 65, was admitted to Dr Nelio Mendonca Hospital, where she is due to undergo tests to determine her physical wellbeing over the next few hours.

 Ronaldo’s mother has already had a blood clot removed from an artery, and is reportedly now in a conscious and stable condition while being kept under observation.

 The Juve forward is travelling to the Portuguese island on a private jet, having been granted a day off on compassionate leave by the Italian club.

 Ronaldo was pictured at Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday to watch his old club Real Madrid beat Barcelona in the latest edition of El Clasico, with Juve forced to take the weekend off due to the coronavirus outbreak.

 The Bianconeri were scheduled to take on Inter at the Allianz Stadium, but the fixture was one of five to be postponed in the Italian top flight.

 Ronaldo returned to Turin to prepare with the rest of the squad for Wednesday’s Coppa Italia semi-final second-leg tie against AC Milan, but his participation is now in doubt.

 There has been no official comment from Ronaldo or Dolores’ other three children as of yet, but the family have requested for her privacy to be respected while she rests in intensive care..

Coronavirus : United Nations Releases $15m to Vulnerable Countries

The World Health Organisation (WHO) reported that the United Nations has released 15 million dollars emergency funds to help vulnerable countries fight coronavirus (COVID-19) The Director-General, WHO, Dr Tedros Ghebreyesus, disclosed this on the agency’s twitter handle, @WHO, on Monday. Ghebreyesus said that the potential spread of COVID-19 to countries with weaker health system was one of the agency’s biggest concerns. He said: “WHO thanks UN Humanitarian Chief Mark Lowcock for releasing 15 million US dollars from the Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) to help fund global efforts to contain the COVID-19 virus. We thank the agency for releasing the fund to help weak countries battle the spread of the virus,’’ he said. WHO is calling for 675 million dollars to fund the fight against coronavirus. Nigeria coronavirus patience now given better facility

The Lagos State Government on Saturday said it had moved the coronavirus patient to a better facility where he would be comfortable. The PUNCH had exclusively reported how the patient was very upset about where he was isolated and had threatened to flee. The Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, who made the latest disclosure, said the Italian was currently receiving treatment at the Infectious Disease facility at the Mainland Hospital in Yaba area of the state. He said, “We were renovating part of the facilities, so we kept him in a single isolation room for his privacy but we’ve subsequently moved him to one of our completed wards which were recently renovated with the full complement of facilities. “He is there now and he is comfortable. “As of this morning, his condition has improved, he hasn’t developed any new symptoms but he still got a mild fever and we would be running tests to see what the situation is with the virus in his body.”
